Adia Barnes is a highly successful American college basketball coach and former player. She is currently the head coach of the University of Arizona women's basketball team.
As a player, Barnes was a standout guard for the Arizona Wildcats from 1994 to 1998, earning multiple All-Pac-10 honors and leading the team to its first NCAA Women's Final Four appearance in 1998. She was later inducted into the Arizona Athletics Hall of Fame.
After her collegiate career, she played professionally in the WNBA for several teams, including the Sacramento Monarchs, Seattle Storm, Minnesota Lynx, and Houston Comets.
Following her playing career, Barnes transitioned to coaching. She held assistant coaching positions at the University of Washington and Arizona before becoming the head coach at the University of Arizona in 2016.
Under her leadership, the Arizona Wildcats have experienced a resurgence, culminating in a remarkable run to the NCAA Women's Tournament championship game in 2021. Barnes is known for her strong recruiting abilities, player development skills, and passion for the game.
